SALISBURY, Md. – Wesley College's field hockey team won its third-straight game to open the season, blanking Hendrix College, 2-0, in the opener of the Salisbury University Invitational on Friday night. The Warriors now stand at 0-4 on the season.
Finding the back of the cage for Wesley (3-0) were senior Devin Price and junior Renee Schneider who both recorded their first goals of the year. Schneider struck first for the Wolverines at 12:11, Wesley's first shot attempt of the night, as she collected a loose ball in front and shot the ball high over the keeper.
The score remained a one-goal deficit for the rest of the first half and for most of the second until Price's shot from the left wing with just over wo minutes left in the game.
Sarah Daniels stopped two shots in the victory for the Navy & White to notch her third career shutout.
Wesley gets right back at it on Saturday, September 6 when they take on Virginia Wesleyan in the second day of the Salisbury Invitational in a 1:30 pm start.
