Field Hockey Blanks Virginia Wesleyan in Defensive Battle

SALISBURY, Md. – Wesley College's field hockey team did not even allow a single shot attempt as it blanked Virginia Wesleyan, 1-0, on Saturday afternoon at the Salisbury University Invitational.  The Wolverines remain undefeated at 4-0 while the Marlins fall to 1-2.

Morgan Seymour scored the lone goal of the game as she ripped a shot past goalkeeper Lindsay Baker after a penalty corner pass by Gracie Daniels at 12:10.  The matchup was a fierce defensive battle as Wesley was only credited with six shots on the day, but the Navy & White held a 9-4 advantage on corner attempts.

Sarah Daniels played all 90 minutes between the cage on a hot and humid day but was not tested to record a save.  Baker stopped three shots for Virginia Wesleyan in the loss.

The Wolverines return to action on Thursday, September 11 at 7 pm when they host Delaware Valley.
