Field Hockey Unable To Find Equalizer at Drew

MADISON, N.J. – Wesley College's field hockey team could not overcome a two-goal deficit as it fell 2-1 to Drew University on Tuesday night at Ranger Field. The Wolverines fall to 5-5 while Drew moves to 1-8.

The Rangers took an early lead just 57 seconds into the game on a goal from Taryn Murphy and they took a 2-0 lead into halftime as Amber De Marco scored on a penalty stroke at 21:00.

As Drew outshot Wesley, 10-2 in the first half, the second half was just the opposite as Wesley held a 12-3 shot advantage and took ten corners to the Rangers' four.

Jessica Giaccone tallied her second goal of the season at 55:18 off a Morgan Seymour pass to cut the deficit in half but unfortunately the Wolverines were unable to get the equalizer.

Sarah Daniels made three saves for the Navy & White while Seymour and Brooke Gannon were credited with defensive saves. Sarah Stewart stopped eight shots for Drew.

The Wolverines open CAC play on Saturday, October 4 when they travel to No. 18 Mary Washington at 1 pm.
