Wolverines fall at Christopher Newport

The Wesley College field hockey team fell to the Captains of Christopher Newport in a 1-0 game on Saturday afternoon. The Captains advance to 8-4, 1-1 in conference play, while the Wolverines fall to 5-8, 0-2 CAC.

The Wolverines and Captains were very closely matched through the first half of the game. Both teams had seven shots a piece and the Wolverines had five penalty corners to the Captains four. Lauren Mears was a driving force behind the Wolverines offense with four shots.

Unfortunately for the Wolverines, the first and second half were completely different. Just three minutes into the half Sarah Miller connected on pass from Madison Doss to score the go ahead goal for the Captains. This was the only goal that the Captains would need as the Wolverines would not even manage a shot in the second half.

Sarah Daniels takes the loss for the Wolverines but records five saves in the game while Brooke Gannon added two defensive saves in the effort.

The Wolverines return to Scott D. Miller on Thursday, October 16 for a 7:00 PM start against St. Mary's (Md).
