Wolverines Receive Top Academic Honors

DOVER, Del. - The Wesley College Field Hockey team was honored with the ZAG Field Hockey/NFHCA National Academic Team award while nine individual student-athletes were named to the National Academic Squad and two were named Scholars of Distinction.

The National Academic Team Award recognizes those institutions that achieved a Team GPA of 3.0 or higher during the first semester of the 2015-16 academic year. Wesley was one of over 100 Division III teams to reach the threshold as a team and receive the honor.

Nine individual student-athletes were named to the National Academic Squad. The National Academic Squad recognizes those student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher through the first semester of the 2015-16 academic year. Kelsey Fromal, Kasey Fry, Meghan Groom, Katelyn Harding, Maggie Matthews, Allison Perugini, Renee Schneider, Morgan Seymour, and Taylor Timmons each earned a place on the National Academic Squad with their performance in the classroom. For Schneider, the honor marked her fourth consecutive year as a member of the esteemed academic team.

Two Wolverines were honored by the NFHCA as Scholars of Distinction. These outstanding student-athletes have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.90 or higher through the first semester of the 2015-16 academic year. Maggie Matthews and Allison Perugini each earned their way into the honor with exemplary GPAs.
