DOVER, Del. - The Wesley College Wolverines look to set aside the past and begin a clean slate heading into the weekend. The Wolverines face off against the York College Spartans in their Capital Athletic Conference opener on Saturday at 12:30 p.m.
The Wolverines have been in run onto tough times since their last win against Ferum College. Wesley played their previous game against Rowan University. Makenzie Mclntyre received her first start as she snatched two saves. Sydney Stump contributed with three saves. Although the group fell short to Rowan in a 5-0 defeat, Morgan Seymour increased her number of defensive saves to a total of nine. Seymour has the most defensive saves in the Capital Athletic Conference.
As the season the progressed, a few Wesley players have individually progressed such as senior Lauren Niezgoda. Niezgoda. The forward has totaled six points on two goals and two assists and a .118 shot percentage. Her shot percentage is the best on the team.
The York College Spartans are treading through the season with a (7-2) record heading into conference play. On Sept. 28th, York crushed John Hopkins with a final score of 7-4. Sophomore forward Paige Taylor contributed 3 goals overall to guide the Spartans for the win.
Over a nine game trial, Spartans have recorded 31 goals for the season. They average 3 goals a game along with 25 shots per game.
Wesley seeks to repel York College on Saturday, October 1st at 12:30 p.m. as they fight for a much-needed win.
