DOVER, Del. - The Wesley College Field Hockey team will take the field for their final home game of the season on Wednesday, October 26 at 5:00 p.m. when they host Capital Athletic Conference rival Salisbury University.
The team has asked fans of both teams to bring children's activities, toys, and books to donate to the A.I. DuPont Hospital for Children.
"We chose the Salisbury game because both teams usually have a very good fan following and they're local," said Head Coach Tracey Short. "I've reached out to the coach of Salisbury and they've agreed to contribute as well."
"Last year we did something similar with a different institution, but this year we decided to choose A.I. DuPont because they are local," said Coach Short.
The team will collect donations at Wednesday evening's game and deliver them personally to the hospital later this week.
"It's important for us to give back to the community that supports us so much throughout the season," said senior Lauren Niezgoda, "I think what we're looking forward to most is getting to spend time with the children in the hospital and interacting with those kids."
Wesley and Salisbury are scheduled to play on Wednesday, October 26 at 5:00 p.m. at Drass Field. With every donation, admission fee will be waived. For more information on the drive contact Coach Tracey Short.
