Field Hockey Falls in Double-Overtime

Field Hockey Falls in Double-Overtime
THE FACTS
Wesley 2, Marywood 3
What: Conference field hockey game
When: Saturday, Oct. 12

How it Happened
Wesley College battled back from 2 goals down to send the game against Marywood University into OT.

At the end of the first quarter Marywood held a 2-0 lead over the Wolverines.

For the next 2 quarters a lot of the action was between the 25's.  The two teams combined for 6 shots in goal, with neither team making it through.

The 4th quarter was a different story as the Wolverines started heating up.  Five minutes in Margaret Johnson drove the ball inside the offensive 25, made a excellent pass across the circle to a wide-open Madison Terzaghi who swept the ball past the goalie for the Wolverines first goal.  Less than 5 minutes later Wesley earned a penalty corner.  Kristen Fuhr inserted to Jessica Behornar.  Behornar drilled a shot at the goalie where Carly Setting waited.  Setting deflected the ball into the cage for goal number two and tied the game.

The game ended 2-2.  In the first overtime the Wolverines battled through three penalty corners and goalie Bridget Wood turned away both shots by the Pacers.    In the second overtime Marywood wasted little time scoring the game-winner just 33 second into the 10-minute period.

Comments from the Coach
"Marywood had a good game-plan and they played very well.  I was proud of our team for fighting back and scoring two late goals to give us a chance to win.   Jessica Behornar, Kristen Fuhr, Brittany Bishop and Julie Snow did a great job in the midfield.  Defensively we started out a little slow but were able to pick it up and keep the ball out for 3 quarters and an overtime."
