Wesley College Field Hockey Camps

Gear Up! Field Hockey Camps announces the camp dates for 2010.

June 21-24 from 9-3, the Gear Up Day Camp offers campers the opportunity to bring your own lunch or have lunch provided. The day camp will focus on basic skills development for girls and boys up to the age of 18.  Field Hockey drills and team play reflect the latest instructional techniques.  Highlights include offensive and defensive skills, game strategies, and game play.  Campers are trained at a ratio of 1 counselor for every 10-12 campers in all of the major fundamental areas of the game: hitting, 1 v 1 elimination skills, passing, scoring and defensive skills.  Camp is open to individuals and teams.  Players are grouped appropriately be age and ability.  Teams train together where appropriate.  Special goalkeeping instruction is available.  This is only a DAY Camp - before and after school care is available for an extra charge.  Cost of the camp is $200 (bring your own lunch) or $250 (lunch provided.)

June 27-30, The Advanced Camp is for players that have played at least three years of field hockey with one year on their varsity high school team.  This camp will offer skills, team offense, team defense, fitness, strength and development strategies, all geared toward the future collegiate player.  Special goalkeeper instruction is available.  Campers will be placed on teams for game situations as well as team competitions.  Check in for the camp is Sunday at 11, and the camp ends Wednesday at 6 pm.  Extended day campers may leave every day at 8:30 pm.  Costs for the Advanced Camp are:  $360 (extended day): $450 (overnight)

July 5-8, Gear Up is offering a skills camp for girls ages 10-18.  The camp offers a variety of beginner to advanced skills, as well as team strategies.  Field Hockey drills and team play reflect the latest instructional techniques.  Highlights include offensive and defensive skills, game strategies, and game play.  Campers are trained at a ratio of 1 counselor for every 10-12 campers in all of the major fundamental areas of the game: hitting, 1 v 1 elimination skills, passing, scoring and defensive skills.  Camp is open to individuals and teams.  Players are grouped appropriately be age and ability.  Teams train together where appropriate.  Special goalkeeping instruction is available.  If the campers come from the same high school they will be placed together for some of their games (depending on the number of campers and the levels attending.)  Costs for the Skills Camps are: $325 (extended day): $425 (overnight)

Discounts will be given to campers that sign up from the same high school.  For ten campers from the same high school there will be a $25 rebate given at check-in per camper.
