Golf in 7th Place
(Sunday, May 1st)
Middletown, DE - The Wesley College golf team is currently in 7th place overall at the Scotty Duncan Memorial Golf Tournament, hosted by the University of Delaware at Frog Hollow Country Club.  Wesley shot a team total of 321, which places them 31 strokes behind the leaders Liberty University (290).  Of the 10 teams competing in the tournament, Wesley is the only Division III team, with 8 of the schools being Division I programs.  Zac Oakley, the 2005 PAC individual champion, (Lincoln, DE/Greenwood Mennonite) is in 8th place individually after shooting a round of 75.  Mike Rushin (Bartonsville, PA/Pocono Mountain) stands in 20th place after posting a 78.

Wesley Wins 7th Straight PAC Championship
Oakley Earns Individual Championship
Middletown, DE - The Wesley College golf team continued its streak of Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) dominance, by shooting a team total 314 for a two-day total of 621 for 1st place overall.  The win gives the Wolverines their 7th consecutive PAC Tournament Championship.  After shooting a 307 on day 1, Wesley came back with a 314 in windy conditions at Frog Hollow Golf Club.  Cabrini College finished in second place with a team total of 656.  Neumann College shot a round 2 team total of 333 for the next best team total for the final day, putting them in 4th overall (670).

Senior Zac Oakley (Lincoln, DE/Greenwood Mennonite) put his stamp on the PAC Golf Tournament, earning his 3rd individual title and 4th 1st Team All-Conference selection.  Oakley, the leader after day 1, shot a 74 (147) Monday helping him ease to the individual championship by 10 strokes.  Wesley junior Brock Cerklefskie (Dover, DE/Dover) fired a 77 (157), earning him 2nd place honors for the tournament and his 3rd consecutive 1st Team All-PAC honor.  Freshman Mike Rushin (Bartonsville, PA/Pocono Mountain) posted an 83 (159) for fourth place and 1st Team All-PAC accolades.  Tyler Smith (Dover, DE/Dover) was also awarded 1st Team All-PAC, after the sophomore shot an 82 (160) for fifth place.  Senior Brooks Massey (Laurel, DE/Laurel) finished 10th overall (165), firing an 81 on day 2, which earned him a 3rd consecutive 2nd Team All-PAC selection.  Ray Cook (Seaford, DE/Seaford) finished in 11th place overall for Wesley, shooting an 83 (165).  Photo: Zac Oakley

Wesley in Lead After Day One
(Sunday, April 24th)
Middletown, DE - The Wesley College golf team holds the team lead after day 1 of the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) Golf Championship held at Back Creek/Frog Hollow Golf Clubs after shooting a 307 on the day.  Alvernia College is in second place with a 317, followed by Cabrini College (319).  Zac Oakley (Lincoln, DE/Greenwood Mennonite) is the individual leader by 2 strokes after posting a 73.  Mike Rushin (Bartonsville, PA/Pocono Mountain) is tied for 3rd with a 76 and Tyler Smith (Dover, DE/Dover) fired a 78 for 6th place overall.  Brock Cerklefskie (Dover, DE/Dover) stands in at 8th place with an 80, while Ray Cook (Seaford, DE/Seaford) is tied for 11th with an 82.  Brooks Massey (Laurel, DE/Laurel) finished out the scoring with an 84.

Play will begin at 9:00 AM on Monday, April 25th with a shotgun start at Frog Hollow Golf Club.  Wesley is looking to win its 7th straight PAC Championship.

Golf Takes First Place Honors
(Thursday, April 21st)

Gettysburg, PA - Wesley College took first place honors at the McDaniel Quad Tournament held in Gettysburg, PA, shooting a team total of 317.  Tyler Smith (Dover, DE/Dover) led Wesley shooting a 76 for third place overall individually.  Mike Rushin (Bartonsville, PA/Pocono Mountain) fired a 79 for 6th place and Brock Cerklefskie (Dover, DE/Dover) had an 80 for 7th place honors.  Zac Oakley (Lincoln, DE/Greenwood Mennonite) and Brooks Massey (Laurel, DE/Laurel) shot rounds of 82 and 84 respectively.

Wesley Places 7th at Franklin & Marshall Invite
(Monday, April 18th)
Lititz, PA - Wesley College finished 7th overall at the Franklin & Marshall Spring Golf Invitational held at Bent Creek Country Club.  Wesley shot a team total of 326, which was 19 strokes behind the host school team champion Franklin and Marshall (307).  Zac Oakley (Lincoln, DE/Greenwood Mennonite) finished 11th overall with a 78.  Tyler Smith (Dover, DE/Dover) was the next closest finishing with an 81, while Brock Cerklefskie (Dover, DE/Dover) fired an 83.

Wesley Takes First at Wesley Invite
(Thursday, April 14th)
Wyoming, DE - The Wesley College golf team shot their best team total of 2005 with a 298, placing them first at the Wesley Invitational held at Wild Quail Golf and Country Club in Wyoming, DE.  All five golfers for the Wolverines shot in the 70's, helping them to the 7-stroke win over 2nd place finisher New York University.  Zac Oakley (Lincoln, DE/Greenwood Mennonite) placed 1st individually for Wesley with a 72 and Mike Rushin (Bartonsville, PA/Pocono Mountain) took 3rd overall with a 74.  Tyler Smith (Dover, DE/Dover) held down the 4th spot with a 74.  Brock Cerklefskie (Dover, DE/Dover) and Brooks Massey (Laurel, DE/Laurel) shot 78 and 79 respectively on the day.

Golf Finishes 11th Overall
(Monday, April 11th)
Hershey, PA - The Wesley College golf team finished 11th overall at the District II Championships held in Hershey, PA.  In the 15-team, two-day event, Wesley had a team total of 360 (320-340), with Zac Oakley (Lincoln, DE/Greenwood Mennonite) finishing tied for 7th overall with a 155 (79-76).  Wesley was in 6th place after round 1.

The Wolverines will host the Wesley Invitational on Thursday, April 14th at Wild Quail Country Club in Wyoming, DE in their next match.

Golf Postponed at McDaniel Spring Invitational
(Saturday, April 2nd)
Dover, DE - McDaniel College has cancelled both rounds of the McDaniel College Golf Spring Invitational due to weather related conditions.  Wesley will travel to Hershey, PA for the District II Championships on April 10th and 11th.

Golf Team Places 1st at Gettysburg Spring Invite
(Tuesday, March 29th)
Gettysburg, PA - The Wesley College golf team traveled to Gettysburg, PA for the Gettysburg Spring Invitational finishing first in the one-day event.  Wesley shot a team total of 303, as the host Gettysburg took second with a 304.  Zac Oakley (Lincoln, DE/Greenwood Mennonite) and Mike Rushin (Bartonsville, PA/Pocono Mountain) both fired 75's to finish in a tie for fourth place individually.  Brock Cerklefskie (Dover, DE/Dover) finished tied for 7th place with a 76, while Tyler Smith (Dover, DE/Dover) had a 77 to finish in a tie for 9th overall.

Golf Finishes in 7th Overall at St. Andrews Invite
(Tuesday, March 22nd)
Pinehurst, NC - Wesley College finished 7th overall at the St. Andrews Invitational in Pinehurst, NC with rounds of 324-324 (+72).  Zac Oakley (Lincoln, DE/Greenwood Mennonite) fired rounds of 79-78 (+13) to finish in 16th place for the Wesley's best overall finish individually.  Mike Rushin (Bartonsville, PA/Pocono Mountain) shot a 78-82 (+16) to finish in 23rd place, while Tyler Smith (Dover, DE/Dover) placed 33rd overall after finishing with rounds of 81-82 (+19).  Barton College won the team title shooting a 304-305 (+33), while Kyle Byerly from Abilene Christian was the individual winner shooting rounds of 70-74 (E).

Golf 6th in First Day of St. Andrew's Invitational
(Monday, March 21st)
Pinehurst, NC - The Wesley College golf team opened up 2005 play on Monday in the St. Andrews Invitational in Pinehurst, NC.  Wesley is currently tied for sixth place after shooting a team total of 324 (+36).  Mike Rushin (Bartonsville, PA/Pocono Mountain) leads Wesley after shooting a 78 (+6), followed by Zac Oakley (Lincoln, DE/Greenwood Mennonite) with a 79 (+7).  Rushin is tied for 17th and Oakley is tied for 24th overall.  Tyler Smith (Dover, DE/Dover) shot an 81 (+9) to place him tied in 31st.

Abilene Christian is the team leader after day one with a team total of 299 (+11).  Eric Royster of Mount Olive College is the individual leader after shooting a two below par-70.  Play concludes today, March 22nd.

Golf Selected as Preseason Favorite in the PAC
Aston, PA - Wesley College's men's golf team, a national powerhouse in recent seasons, has been selected as the unanimous pre-season favorite in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) coaches poll. Wesley, the six-time defending Conference Champions, earned all eight first-place votes for a total of 64 points.  Eastern University, which finished in second at the PAC Championships in each of the past two seasons, finished second in the poll, earning 48 points.
