Golfers Take Second at Wilmington
MIDDLETOWN, Del. - The Wesley College golf team took second place in their season opening tournament at the Wilmington Fall Classic at Frog Hollow GC.
The highlight of the tournament, however, came before play even started, when the Wolverines' Bobby Ehrhardt (Mechanicsville, Md./Chopticon) set the course record with a 64.
Once the tournament started, Alec Kessler (Waynesboro, Pa./Waynesboro Area) led Wesley with rounds of 72 and 73 for a third place 145. Chris Osberg (Amherst, Va./Amherst), who matched Kessler with a first round 72, shot a 75 in the second round to place fourth at 147.
Rob Zimmerer (Franklin, N.J./Wallkill Valley) gave the Wolverines three top 10 finishers with a 76-75-151, which was good for a tie for seventh place in the 58 player field.
Ehrhardt just missed the top 10, tying for 11th after rounds of 75 and 78 for a 36-hole 153. James Cooney (Trappe, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) cracked the top 20 with a 156 after shooting 79 and 77.
Wesley is back in action on September 15 at the Goldey-Beacom Invitational in Chesapeake, Maryland.
