Wesley Improves in Final Round
GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Wesley College golf team shaved 27 strokes off its score from the first round to finish ninth at the Tom & Bettie O'Briant Memorial hosted by Guilford.
Clayton Bunting (Georgetown, Del./Sussex Tech) shot his best round of the fall with a 72 to finish tied for 21st at 156. One stroke back was Alec Kessler (Waynesboro, Pa./Waynesboro Area), who carded a second round 74 to tie for 24th. Rob Zimmerer (Franklin, N.J./Wallkill Valley) also shot a 74 on the final round to finish with a 159, tied for 30th.
Chris Osberg (Amherst, Va./Amherst) finished tied for 47th with a 163, while Bobby Ehrhardt (Mechanicsville, Md./Chopticon) rounded out the Wolverines with a 168 to tie for 64th.
Bunting, Kessler and Zimmerer all improved by at least nine strokes in the final round at the Cardinal Golf & Club as Wesley moved up three places in the team standings to finish ninth. After shooting a 330 in the first round, Wesley improved to 303 on Tuesday.
Methodist won the tournament with a 589 (296-293). The Monarchs also fielded the top three finishers. Teammates Trey Howell and Josh Speight each shot a pair of 73s to finish tied atop the leaderboard with 146. The duo finished two strokes ahead of fellow Monarch Josh Schrader.
The tournament concluded Wesley's fall season.
