Pestun Leads At Pine Needles After Round One

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. - Wesley College's Cody Pestun shot an even par 71 and holds the lead after the first round of the Pine Needles Intercollegiate at the 7,015-yard, Pine Needles Lodge and Golf Club.  The Wolverines currently sit sixth of seven teams.

A freshman from Damascus, Md., Pestun leads the 37-man field while junior Clayton Bunting is just three shots back and tied for seventh after shooting a three-over 74.

Pestun, who shot a 34 in the front and a 37 in the back, is one stroke ahead of Cory Howard of LaGrange and two shots ahead of a group of four at two-over-par.

Also turning in cards for Wesley were Robert Ehrhardt (T-22, 80, +9), Erik Shellenhamer (T-35, 94, +23) and Mike Robinson (36th, 95, +24).

The teams conclude play tomorrow with 18 holes.
