Golf Finishes Tied For Fifth at Pine Needles

PINE NEEDLES, N.C. - Wesley College's golf team improved two strokes from yesterday's first round, shooting a 317, to finish tied for fifth at the Pine Needles Intercollegiate held at the Pine Needles Lodge & Golf Club. Freshman Cody Pestun led the Wolverines individually by finishing tied for third with a three-over, 145 (71-74).

A freshman from Damascus, Md., Pestun led all players with 26 pars in the Tournament and shot Even on Par 3s.  Pestun also shot two-under on Par 5s and five-over on Par 4s.

Clayton Bunting finished tied for sixth after shooting a 151.  The junior from Georgetown, Del., shot a six-over, 77, after carding a 74 in the first round.  His classmate Robert Ehrhardt placed in a tie for 23rd with a 61 (80-81) despite leading the 37-man field in Par 5 scoring (-4).

Also turning in cards for Wesley was Erik Shellenhamer (179/94-85) and Mike Robinson (197/95-102).

The Wolverines are back on the course on March 24 when they travel to Abbottstown, Pa., to compete at the Gettysburg Invitational held at The Bridges Golf Club.
