Pestun Leads Regional Tourney After First Round

HERSHEY, Pa. - Cody Pestun lead after the first round of the Mid-Atlantic Regional after carding a two-over 73 at the 7,061-yard Hershey Country Club.  Pestun is three-strokes ahead of the nearest competitor as the Wesley College golf team sits in a tie for fourth out of 15 teams with Washington & Jefferson after firing a 327.

Extremely windy conditions and lightning fast greens led to high scores on the day as only 12 golfers broke 80.

A freshman from Damascus, Md., Pestun shot a tournament-best 37 on the front nine.  He did even better on the back with a 36. Robert Ehrhardt also had a great showing and is tied for fifth out of 78 golfers at seven-over.

Also turning in cards for Wesley was Clayton Bunting, Erik Shellenhamer and Mike Robinson who all carded 88s and sit in a tie for 51st.

St. John Fisher leads the tournament after its top four combined to shoot a 313.  They currently lead Allegheny College (323) by ten shots and are 13 strokes ahead of Franklin & Marshall (326).

Pestun and the Wolverines return to the East Course for another 18 holes on Monday, April 9, at 8:00 am.
