Mendoza Leads Golf After 18 at Wilmington

MIDDLETOWN, Del. – After one round of the Wilmington University Spring Invitational at Back Creek Golf Couse, the Wesley College golf team sits seventh of nine schools, shooting a 339. The host Wildcats lead the two-day Invite after shooting a 286 at their home course.

Finishing just behind the Wolverines are the University of the Sciences (343) and Neumann (350).

Mason Mendoza sits in a tie for tenth place after shooting a five-over 76, just seven strokes behind the leader and four shots out of fifth.  Robert Ehrhardt and Clayton Bunting shot an identical 10-over, 81 to rank in a tie for 22nd.  Competing in just her second golf tournament, Madison Leone shot a 101.

Mendoza carded a par on a Tournament-leading 12 holes on the day and also recorded one birdie.  Ehrhardt and Bunting shined on the Par 3s, tallying an even par and two-over score, respectively.

The WU Spring Invitational finishes tomorrow afternoon.
