NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Dylan Chessher and Tyler Spielberger both shot under 80 in the final round to lead the Wesley College golf team to a fifth place team finish at the Capital Athletic Conference Championships. The Wolverines shot a 332 in the second round to total a 671 for the tournament.
Wesley finished 12 strokes behind fourth place Marymount and ten strokes in front of sixth place William Paterson. Christopher Newport took the team title with a 575 and had the top three individual finishers.
After firing an 80 in the opening round on Saturday, Chessher carded a 78 on Sunday to finish in a tie for 13th out of 34 golfers with a 18-over, 158. Spielberger improved four shots from his 83 on Saturday to record a 79 and placed in a tie for 15th with a 22-over, 162.
Ricky Mulloy also fared well on Sunday, carding an 83 to finish 23rd overall while Mike Piccirillo shot a second-round 92 to finish 27th overall. Ryan Strain was counted in the Wolverines team score on Sunday after carding a 92 to finish 28th overall.
