Johnson Named D3hoops.com All-Region

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Wesley College's Rashawn Johnson (Selbyville, Del./Sussex Tech) picked up his fourth career D3hoops.com all-region honor, earning a place on the All-Middle Atlantic First Team.
Johnson is also a finalist for the 2009 Josten's Trophy, the Division III Player of the Year Award. He was named the Capital Athletic Conference Player of the Year and was chosen first team all-conference after pacing the league in scoring at 24.0 points per game.
His CAC leading points per game was nearly four points better than the next best average and ranks seventh in the nation. Johnson also led the circuit in three-point field goals (3.1 per game) and ranked among the conference leaders in minutes played (second, 37.7 per game), steals (third, 1.9 per game), free throw percentage (sixth, .763). With 83 three-point field goals this season, he broke his own single season record at Wesley.
Johnson holds Wesley records for career points (2,388), three-point field goals (294) and free throws made (398), and ranks fourth all-time in rebounds (599) and steals (173).
Behind Johnson's efforts, the Wolverines won a school record 18 games and advanced to their first NCAA Tournament appearance.
He has been named to the all-conference team in each of his four seasons and has also been a four-time all-region pick, as well.
Johnson was one of three CAC players honored, but was the only one selected to the first team. Mary Washington's Brandon Altmann was chosen to the second team, while Carmontae Griffin of St. Mary's (Md.) earned a place on the third team.
