D3hoops.com Names Johnson All-American

MINNEAPOLIS - Wesley College's Rashawn Johnson added another postseason honor when the senior was named to the D3hoops.com All-American fourth team.

Johnson, finalist for the 2009 Josten's Trophy, was also named to the All-Middle Atlantic first team by D3hoops.com and the National Association of Basketball Coaches.  He was named the Capital Athletic Conference Player of the Year and was chosen first team all-conference after pacing the league in scoring at 24.0 points per game.

His CAC leading points per game was nearly four points better than the next best average and ranks seventh in the nation.  Johnson also led the circuit in three-point field goals (3.1 per game) and ranked among the conference leaders in minutes played (second, 37.7 per game), steals (third, 1.9 per game), free throw percentage (sixth, .763).  With 83 three-point field goals this season, he broke his own single season record at Wesley.

Johnson holds Wesley records for career points (2,388), three-point field goals (294) and free throws made (398), and ranks fourth all-time in rebounds (599) and steals (173).

Behind Johnson's efforts, the Wolverines won a school record 18 games and advanced to their first NCAA Tournament appearance.

He has been named to the all-conference team in each of his four seasons and has also been a four-time all-region pick, as well.

Johnson was the only CAC player named to either the first or second team.
