DOVER, Del. - The Wesley College Men's Basketball team was selected to finish sixth in the conference standings, matching their 2015-16 finish, in the 2016-17 CAC Preaseason Coaches' Poll on Friday.
The Wolverines posted a 10-16 mark last year, but won seven of their final 12 contests to make a playoff push, finishing sixth in the conference standings and earning their seventh straight CAC Tournament appearance. Head Coach Dean Burrows and the Wolverines are looking to improve upon their results last season.
Wesley lost two outstanding performers in Wayne Lennon and Anthony Bowers, but returns a solid nucleus of strong contributors in hopes of earning their eighth consecutive CAC Tournament appearance. The Wolverines return seven players that averaged at least 10.0 minutes per game last season and have added several strong interior players to their ranks.
Evan Anderson, Jordan Johnson, and Tyrone Craven return from last year's starting lineup, alongside Rasahn Brinkley, JW Lawson, George Cook, and Chris Scott, who each contributed minutes off the bench last season. Senior Evan Zimmerman returns from injury this year to add to the Wolverines' depth as well.
Wesley will open their season on November 15 with a trip to nearby Alvernia. The squad's first home game will be played on November 27 when they host Catholic.
