ANNVILLE, Pa. - With the game tied at 70-70 the Wesley College Men's Basketball team held for the last shot. Evan Anderson beat a defender and pulled up for a mid-range jumper, but missed. The sophomore followed his own shot, and converted the tip-in to give Wesley a 72-70 victory over Elizabethtown in the opening game of the Rinso Marquette Tournament hosted by Lebanon Valley College.

Anderson finished with 13 points on the night. JW Lawson led all scorers with 25 points on 10-for-15 shooting while Paul Clemons registered a double-double with 10 points and 15 boards. Rasahn Brinkley rounded out the Wolverines' double-digit scorers with 19 points and added seven rebounds.

The Wolverines played an even game with the Blue Jays, featuring seven ties and six lead changes. Wesley trailed by as many as six points in the second half, but rallied back for their first victory of the season.

A three by Rasahn Brinkley gave Wesley an early 8-4 lead and after an E-Town three, Anderson scored five straight to spur a 9-0 run, giving Wesley a 17-7 advantage, their largest of the game. The Blue Jays pulled back to within two points before the halftime break, finishing the half on a 10-5 run to cut into the Wesley lead.

In the second half, the Blue Jays came storming from out of the locker room to take a 52-46 lead midway through the second half. Five straight points from Lawson cut the deficit to just one point. A pair of layups by Brinkley gave Wesley the lead two minutes later. The rest of the game was evenly played with three ties and three lead changes in the final three minutes.

An E-Town jumper gave them the lead with 1:43 left to play, but Brinkley responded with a tip-in with 1:20 remaining to tie it at 68-68. The Wolverine defense drew an offensive foul and scored another bucket with 56 seconds left to take a 70-68 lead. With 32 seconds left, the Blue  Jays drew a foul and drained both foul shots to tie the game.

On their final possession the Navy and White turned to Anderson, and he didn't disappoint, scoring the game-winning points with two seconds on the clock. E-Town had a chance at the game-winning basket, but missed their desparation heave to give Wesley the win.

The Wolverines improve to 1-1 on the season and will play the winner of Lebanon Valley and Penn State Mont Alto in tomorrow's championship game.
