Second Half Push Not Enough For Wolverines

DOVER, Del. - A strong first half by the Christopher Newport Captains propels them to a 71-62 victory over the Wesley College Wolverine's men's basketball team Wednesday afternoon at Wentworth Gymnasium. The Captains shot an impressive 50% from the field, while the Wolverines were cold shooting 27% on their first half field goals.

 

Brian Cameron led the way for the Wolverines netting a game high 25 points, while going a perfect 4-4 from 3 point range. Jordan Johnson chipped in eight points, while J.W Lawson and Rasahn Brinkley each respectively added six points. Brinkley also added a game high 11 rebounds.

 

The Captains had 3 different players in double figures on their hot shooting night. Rayshaun Brown led the way with 16 points. Kevin Regimbal went 4-6 from beyond the arc finishing 15 points, and Tim Daly finished 14 points for the high scoring trio. Turnovers plagued the Wolverines as the team gave the ball the to the Captains 18 times during the duration of the game. The Captains turned the ball over 10 times.

 

Wesley moves to 5-7 on the year and 3-2 in Capital Athletic Conference play. The Wolverines will continue their home stand Saturday Jan.7 against CAC foe St. Marys (MD).
