Lawson leads Wesley against third-ranked Christopher Newport

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Wesley College men's basketball team suffered a 90-50 loss to the third-ranked Christopher Newport Captains in a Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) matchup on the road Saturday afternoon.

Junior guard JW Lawson paced the Wolverines with an 18-point effort off the bench. Lawson went 8-of-13 from the field, including knocking down a three-pointer and a free throw.

Junior forward Paul Clemons pulled down a game-high nine rebounds and added eight points for the Wolverines. Sophomore Tyrone Craven dished out four assists in the loss.

Marcus Carter led the Captains with 20 points.

The Wolverines (9-14, 7-9 CAC) will return to action Wednesday, Feb. 15 when they head to Middletown, Pa. to take on the Penn State Harrisburg Lions. The CAC contest is scheduled to get under way at 8 p.m.
