Cameron named CAC Rookie of the Year, Lawson earns All-CAC award

YORK, Pa. – Junior guard JW Lawson and freshman guard Brian Cameron were honored on Tuesday by the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC).

Cameron was named CAC Rookie of the Year. Cameron is the third Wolverine to earn the conference's rookie award, following Paul Reynolds in 2010 and Wayne Lennon in 2013. Cameron led the CAC in three-point percentage, knocking down 47.3 percent of his three-point attempts (44-93). Cameron also averaged 14.3 points per game on the season, good for seventh in the CAC. Cameron also pulled down 99 rebounds on the year.

Lawson was named the All-CAC Second Team after leading the team and finishing fourth in the conference in scoring, totaling 15.9 points per contest. Lawson became the 13th Wolverine to notch 1,000 points in a career during the Wolverines tough quarterfinal loss to the York Spartans on Feb. 21.

The Wolverines finished the 2016-17 season 10-16 overall and 8-10 in the CAC to qualify as the sixth seed in their 10th consecutive CAC Championship Tournament appearance.
