ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – The Wesley College men's basketball team held off a late St. Mary's rally to down the Seahawks 74-67 in a Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) game on the road on Saturday.
Wesley held the lead from the first basket of the game and kept the pressure up on St. Mary's. Wesley outrebounded St. Mary's 42-33, scored 40 points in the paint and capitalized on 18 St. Mary's turnovers by netting 23 points off of turnovers.
Paul Clemons recorded a double-double, scoring 32 points and coralling 15 rebounds in the win for Wesley. His 32 points set a new career-high while the 15 rebounds tied his career-best. Clemons hit 13 of his 22 shot attempts and was 6-for-7 in free throws.
Evan Anderson put in a 20-plus point effort, notching 24 points on 8-of-10 shooting, including 2-of-4 from behind the arc.
Ochae Bynum scored 11 points for St. Mary's.
The Wolverines (6-7, 2-4 CAC) will be back in action on Wednesday in the friendly confines of Wentworth Gymnasium when they host the Marymount Saints in CAC action. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m.
