Zwickert To Coach Polish National Team

DOVER, Del. - Wesley College men's lacrosse Head Coach Christian Zwickert has been named the head coach of the newly formed Polish National Team that will compete at the 2010 World Games in Manchester, England.

Zwickert returns to international competition having represented the German National Team as a  player in 1998 World Games in Baltimore, Maryland and in the European Championships in 1999 held in Manchester, England (receiving MVP honors vs. England in the Championship game) and 2000 in Glasgow, Scotland.  In the 2001 Euros held in Cardiff, Wales, Zwickert took over as Head Coach of Germany leading them to a perfect 6-0 record beating defending European Champions, England, twice to win Germany's first gold medal finish. 

Assisting Coach Zwickert will be Chris Burdick, the head men's lacrosse coach at Division I Providence College.

The team will consist of Polish Nationals from three club teams in Western Poland and Americans of Polish Heritage.  Tryouts will be in the Fall of 2009.
