Box Score

YORK, Pa. - Wesley College's Jim McCleaft (Media, Pa./Sun Valley) allowed just one goal in the second half and made 14 of his 21 saves in the final two periods of a 10-5 Capital Athletic Conference victory over York (Pa.).

After Ryan McNicholas scored to tie the game at 5-5 with 6:19 left in the third period, McCleaft turned away the final 11 Spartan (2-3, 0-1 CAC) shots of the game over the final 21 minutes of play.

The Wolverines (5-1, 3-1 CAC) led 3-1 after the first quarter, but the York defense held Wesley without a goal for the first 13 minutes of the second period, enabling a Patrick Coppinger goal with eight seconds left in the period to send the teams into the half tied at 4-4.

Nick Pisacano (King's Park, N.Y./King's Park) gave Wesley a 5-4 lead with 11:08 to go in the third before McNicholas tied the score just less than five minutes later.

The tie lasted just 12 seconds, however.  Brad Smith (Glen Burnie, Md./Old Mill) took an assist from Justin D'Alonzo (Prospect Park, Pa./Interboro) and put it into the net for what would prove to be the game-winner.

Wesley closed the game converting 4-of-9 extra man opportunities with the rest of the Wolverines' scores on the afternoon coming with a man advantage.  Dan Skeels (Roseland, N.J./West Essex) was responsible for two of those goals, while Smith and D'Alonzo scored once each.

Smith had four points in the game with a pair of goals and two assists.  Skeels led the Wolverines with three goals, while Brad Bivins (Dover, Del./Caesar Rodney) had three assists in the game.  D'Alonzo and Pisacano both scored twice.

Defensively, Kirk Waldie (Folsom, Pa./Ridley) had five ground balls and two caused turnovers.  Jimmy Colliflower (Westminster, Md./Westminster) caused three turnovers.

Coppinger had two of the Spartans' five goals and added an assist for three points.  Steve Mersinger caused four turnovers and James Greenwood had five ground balls.

Chris Collins stopped nine shots in net for York.

Wesley will look to continue its win streak with a road trip to Widener on March 18 at 7:00 PM.
