BALTIMORE - Wesley College's Kirk Waldie (Folsom, Pa./Ridley) has been named to the 2009 United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Scholar All-American Team as chosen by the USILA Selection Committee.
The USILA Scholar All-America Program was established in 1989 to recognize student-athletes from USILA member institutions who have distinguished themselves academically, athletically, and as citizens of their communities. The overall team representing Divisions I, II and III is recognized at the annual Lacrosse All-America Banquet.
Waldie was one of just 53 players from the three divisions chosen to the team.
The honor adds to a growing list of postseason accolades for the Wolverines' senior captain. He was named a USILA All-American Honorable Mention, All-Capital Athletic Conference first team. Waldie was also chosen to play in the USILA Division III North South All-Star game and won Wesley's Shirley Wentworth Award.
He ranked second in the Capital Athletic Conference with a team-high 111 ground balls and ranks 22nd in Division III. Waldie also has a CAC-best 42 caused turnovers, one goal and five assists on the year. He had three games with double digit ground balls in 2009 and had at least five caused turnovers three times as well.
