DOVER, Del. - With a bid to the Capital Athletic Conference Tournament on the line, Wesley notched a 17-8 win over Hood College on Senior Day at Scott D. Miller Stadium.

Fittingly, four different seniors scored as the Wolverines (3-10, 2-5 CAC) opened the game with a 5-0 run.  Tom Vaccaro (Freehold, N.J./Freehold Township) opened the scoring, while Dan Skeels (Roseland, N.J./West Essex) scored the first two of his game-high six goals in the run.  Nick Pisacano (Kings Park, N.Y./Kings Park) and Brad Smith (Glen Burnie, Md./Old Mill) also found the back of the net as Wesley took a 5-0 advantage with 12:55 left in the first half.

Scott Thompson put the Blazers (6-10, 0-7 CAC) on the board with just under seven minutes left in the half, but Jack Skeels (Roseland, N.J./West Essex) stretched it back to a five goal lead with 4:41 left in the half.  Hood's Corey Roberts scored twice in the half's last 26 seconds, however, to make it a 6-3 score at the break.

Wesley opened the scoring in the second half with a tally by senior Brad Bivins (Dover, Del./Caesar Rodney) with 13:08 to go in the third.  The Wolverines' Michael McQuarrie (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) won the ensuing face off and found Smith, who dished to Jack Skeels for another goal just seven seconds later.  Dan Skeels scored three more times and Eric Crumbock (Levittown, Pa./Truman) also scored as Wesley opened the second half with six straight goals to take a 13-4 lead with 3:17 left in the third quarter.

Hood fought back, however, to score the game's next four goals.  Trey Freeman scored the final goal of the third and Roberts scored twice in the first 2:14 of the fourth quarter.  Michael Gallion then scored with 11:42 to play and Wesley's lead was down to five, 13-8.

The Blazers were saddled with penalties down the stretch and the Wolverines, who finished the game 4-of-8 on extra man opportunities, took full advantage.  Justin D'Alonzo (Prospect Park, Pa./Interboro) scored with a man advantage with 7:53 left to break Hood's run for a 14-8 lead.

After an even strength tally by Bivins off the ensuing face off, D'Alonzo scored again with an extra man with 5:39 to go and Crumbock's goal with 4:50 on the clock also came with Wesley up a man.

Wesley's nine seniors finished the game with nine goals, five assists, 23 ground balls and seven caused turnovers.

Dan Skeels notched six goals, a season-high for a Wolverine player, and Bivins scored twice.  Smith, Pisacano and Vaccaro each scored once, with Smith adding three assists and Pisacano helping on a pair of scores.

Defensively, Jimmy Colliflower (Westminster, Md./Westminster) had five ground balls and caused three turnovers.

Underclassmen Jack Skeels, D'Alonzo and Crumbock each scored twice, as well.  Skeels added a pair of assists.  Dan Tryon (Wilmington, Del./Salesianum) and Ryan Morris (Clifton Heights, Pa./Upper Darby) each had three caused turnovers.

Matt Ryan (Tinton Falls, N.J./Red Bank Catholic) picked up his first career start in goal and made six saves to go along with a pair of ground balls and a caused turnover.

Roberts had four goals for the Blazers.  Troy Hubbard had five ground balls and James Larrimore forced three turnovers.

William Lane got the start in goal for Hood and made six saves.  John Martin made one save in relief.

Wesley held a 51-33 advantage in ground balls and a 39-24 edge in shots.  The Wolverines also killed all three Hood extra man opportunities.

With the win, Wesley heads to the CAC Tournament and will travel to third seeded St. Mary's (Md.) on April 18.
