DOVER, Del. - Wesley College's Justin D'Alonzo (Prospect Park, Pa./Interboro) had five goals and an assist to lead the Wolverines to a 14-7 win over visiting Gwynedd-Mercy.
Wesley (1-1) used a six goal run that stretched from the end of the first quarter into the third quarter to break open the game and take an 8-1 lead just over 30 seconds into the second half.
In addition to six points by D'Alonzo, Joe Trezza (Kings Park, N.Y./Kings Park) had a five-point day with two goals and three assists. Eric Crumbock (Levittown, Pa./Truman) had three goals and an assist, while Tyler DiStefano (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial) also had a multi-goal effort.
Keven Lion (Westampton, N.J./Rancocas Valley) came up big for the defense with seven ground balls and six caused turnovers.
A pair of keepers split time in goal for Wesley. Sean Mathews (Baltimore, Pa./Pennsbury) played the first half and made three saves, while Michael McGuigan (Middletown, Del./Middletown) stopped a pair of shots in the second half.
Mason Risner and Stefan Hetland had two goals apiece for the Griffins. Nathan Pendleton scored once and assisted on two other scores.
Richard Zagari made 16 saves and scooped five ground balls in the losing effort.
The Wolverines look to stay in the win column on March 2 with a trip to Ursinus.
