Men’s Lacrosse Falls at #8 Washington College

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – A goal by Jathan Mahaffey with 8:25 left in the second quarter cut a deficit to two goals, but that was as close as the Wesley College men's lacrosse team would get in a 14-5 loss at No. 8 Washington College on Saturday afternoon at Roy Kirby Stadium.  The Wolverines fall to 2-2 while the Shoremen remain unbeaten at 4-0.

Washington College led 3-0 after the first period but Mahaffey scored the first goal of the second quarter to cut the lead to 3-1.  The Shoremen scored six straight to close out the half and went into the break with a 9-1 lead.

James Moss scored on a pass from Paul Leonhauser to open the third and with 19 seconds left in the period, Sam Seibert found the back of the net on an unassisted goal.

Wesley played it even with Washington in the fourth as Lane Kocovsky scored twice on assists from Mahaffey and Dan Tryon. Tryon also tallied a team-high four ground balls while Sylvester Tatman caused a pair of turnovers.

Matt Ryan stopped 12 shots for the Wolverines, but three points each by Matt Lewis (3g) and Sid Looney (2g, 1a) were too much to overcome.

The Wolverines are back in action on Wednesday, March 13, when they host Cazenovia in a 4:30 pm start.
