YORK, Pa. – The Wesley College men's lacrosse team has been picked to finish seventh in the Capital Athletic Conference Preseason Poll, it was announced over the weekend. Salisbury University was the top vote getter, followed by St. Mary's, York (Pa.), Mary Washington, Frostburg and Christopher Newport.  Ranking just below the Wolverines were Marymount (Va.) and CAC-newcomer Southern Virginia.

After advancing to the CAC Playoffs with one of the youngest rosters in the conference last year, the Wolverines should improve on last year's 6-9 record. Five of the team's top eight scorers from last year return, including sophomore Jathan Mahaffey who led the Wolverines in both goals (22) and assists (11). Sam Seibert is also back to full strength for his sophomore season while James Moss, Mike Rakos and Patrick Lipari are all threats to score.

Defensively, Wesley is led by senior Kyle Funk along with sophomores Justin Sieburt and Eric Bohns. Playing in 10 games and over 300 minutes in his first two seasons, junior Sam Kennedy is penciled in as the starting goalkeeper after backing up recently-graduated Matt Ryan.

Wesley opens the season on February 19 at Immaculata with a 4 pm faceoff.
