DOVER, Del. – Wesley College is saddened to hear of the passing of former Wolverines men's lacrosse standout Eric Potts at his home on Sunday, February 8, 2015. A visitation will be held on Friday, February 13, 2015 from 5-7 PM in the Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Road, Newark, DE 19702 followed by a memorial service celebrating Eric's life at 7 PM.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Logan Potts Educational Fund at any WSFS location to an account in the name of Erika Potts for Logan Potts. For directions or to express an online condolence, please visit www.strano-feeley.com.

Eric is survived by his loving wife of 10 years, Erika J. Potts; son, Logan G. Potts; mother, Marie H. Potts; brother, Walter Potts; sister, Allison Clark (Ben); in-laws, Cheryl Bailey (Brian) and Craig Martin (Debbie); and brothers-in-law, Zach and Adam Martin and Zach Bailey.

Potts was a member of Wesley's 1996 Eastern College Athletic Conference Championship Team, winning the squad's 'Charlie Hustle' award for his attitude and hard work.  While still enrolled at Wesley, Potts was paralyzed in 1998 during a Delaware Summer League game when he was attempting a body check, leaving him a quadriplegic, without the use of his legs or hands.

In the last several years, the Wolverines men's lacrosse team has awarded Potts' No. 5 jersey to the student-athlete who best resembles Potts' attitude and work ethic.  The 'Eric G. Potts #5 Heart & Soul Award' is given to the team member who exhibits a caring attitude towards others.  This person exhibits qualities that every coach looks for in a player - camaraderie, team spirit, willingness to be coached and most importantly, the selfless giving of himself to the team and his teammates.
