Men’s Lacrosse Impresses in Season-Opening Win Over Ferrum

DOVER, Del. – Junior Sam Seibert scored all four of his goals in the first quarter to lead the Wesley College men's lacrosse team to a 11-4 victory over Ferrum in its season opener on a snowy Saturday afternoon at Scott D. Miller Stadium.  The Panthers are now 1-1 on the season.

Seibert notched the first goal of the year just 1:47 into the game, and following another unassisted goal and a score by classmate Jack Redefer (2g, 2a), Seibert added another two tallies off assists by Redefer and Will Fingles, giving the Wolverines a 5-0 lead after the first quarter.

Ferrum's CJ Asmus (1g, 1a)put the Panthers on the board with 11:20 remaining in the second quarter but Devin Hyatt answered with his first collegiate goal and James Moss added another with 38 ticks remaining in the half to give Wesley a 7-1 advantage at the break.

The Panthers battled back early in the third quarter with three unanswered goals before Moss found the back of the net on a man-up opportunity off an assist by Nate Gemmato

Wesley took an 8-4 lead into the final period and left no doubt as John Chenault scored twice, sandwiching another goal by Redefer to round out the scoring for the day.
