DOVER, Del. – Five different Wolverines notched hat tricks as the Wesley College men's lacrosse team routed Keystone, 24-4, on a brisk Saturday afternoon at Scott D. Miller Stadium. The Wolverines move to 2-0 on the year while this marked the season opener for the Giants.
James Moss recorded a career-high seven points on three goals and four assists while Sam Seibert and Nate Gemmato tallied four goals apiece. Jack Redefer and Joe Fingles also got hat tricks while Will Fingles and John Chenault found the back of the net twice. Will Fingles and Seibert also were credited with two assists.
Seibert put Wesley on top with an unassisted score just 41 seconds into the game but the Giants evened it up with a goal with 11:46 left in the opening period. From there it was all Wolverines with six-straight goals to close out the period and the first two tallies of the second quarter to give them a 9-1 advantage with 13:59 in the half.
Keystone responded with one of their own goals with 12:10 left but the Wolverines went on another long scoring spree and took a 16-2 lead into halftime. The Giants fired a goal to open the third quarter but they would not score again until the 4:59 mark of the fourth as Wesley scored another eight-straight goals.
Eric Bohns was dominant on defense with seven caused turnovers and six ground balls for the Wolverines who got three saves from Josh Dean in the opening half. Sam Kennedy played the second half between the posts and stopped four shots.
Wesley will be away from Dover the next three games, starting with a Wednesday, March 4 matchup at Neumann. Faceoff is scheduled for 4 pm.
