Men’s Lacrosse Blanks Piedmont in Final Period; Defeats Lions, 11-8

FORT MILL, S.C. – Wesley College's men's lacrosse team outscored Piedmont, 3-0, in the final period to defeat the Lions, 11-8, in its spring break trip on Saturday afternoon at Nation Ford High School.  The Wolverines improve to 3-1 on the year while Piedmont falls to 3-5.

Sam Seibert led Wesley with five points on four goals and an assist while Joe Fingles (1g, 2a), Jack Redefer (1g, 2a) and James Moss (2g, 1a) all finished with three points apiece. John Chenault also scored twice for the Wolverines while Ryan Ramsey was credited with the other goal.

Moss tied for a team-high with six ground balls with classmate Sylvester Tatman while Fingles, Redefer, Eric Bohns and Nolan Vessey had five ground balls apiece.

Wesley had control of the game early on, taking a 5-2 advantage into the second period but Piedmont battled back to cut the deficit to just a single goal at the half.  The squads were tied going into the third at eight, but the Wolverines behind goalkeeper Josh Dean, blanked the Lions for the final 15 minutes.

Dean continued his strong play in goal for Wesley, stopping 11 shots in the victory.

The Wolverines return to action on Wednesday, March 18 when they host Misericordia in a 5 pm faceoff.
