Men’s Lacrosse Tumbles at Christopher Newport

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Wesley College's men's lacrosse team held a brief lead but fell in Capital Athletic Conference action at Christopher Newport, 20-4, on Saturday afternoon.  The Wolverines fall to 5-7 overall with a 0-6 mark in the CAC while the captains improve to 9-4 on the year and 4-2 in league play.

James Moss scored with 10:10 left in the first period to give Wesley a 1-0 lead but it was all Captains, who scored 11-straight goals, from there.  Moss assisted on John Chenault's goal with 1:17 remaining in the half.

Redefer found the back of the net midway through the third before Chenault added his second goal of the game with an assist by Alex Skidmore on a man-up opportunity less than two minutes later to make the score 15-4 in favor of CNU.

The Captains closed out the game on a 5-0 run.

Josh Dean made 15 saves in goal for the Wolverines along with a team-high five ground balls.  Alex Collins caused a pair of turnovers as well while Jack O'Neill won 11-of-25 faceoffs.

Brooks Billings and Will Geise each had five points to lead Christopher Newport.

The Wolverines travel to Marymount (Va.) on Wednesday, April 15 for a 7 pm CAC faceoff.
