DALLAS, Pa. - The Wesley College Men's Lacrosse team traveled to Northeast Pennsylvania on Tuesday evening for a non-conference matchup against Misericordia University. The Cougars had the Wolverines' number though, as they beat Wesley 25-7.
Cody Ireland made 14 saves in between the pipes and John Cheanult and Jack Redefer each scored a pair of goals. Nate Gemmato also registered a pair of points with his coming on a goal and an assist. Ben Mitzel, Eric Bohns, and Alex Collins each finished with a pair of caused turnovers to lead the Wolverine defense, while Nate Gemmato scooped seven ground balls winning 10-of-18 faceoffs.
Wesley stayed with the Cougars for most of the first quarter, despite giving the home team a 4-0 advantage to begin the game. Redefer, Gemmato, and Sam Seibert each scored as Wesley cut into the lead, but still trailed 6-3 after the first.
In the second and third quarters, the Wolverines were outscored by a combined 18-2 as Misericordia took a 24-5 lead. Joe Fingles and Chenault each scored in the third quarter.
In the fourth, Redefer and Chenault each netted their second goals of the game for the Wolverines as they played hard until the final whistle.
Wesley moves to 3-5 on the season and will play host to Frostburg State on Thursday night in Dover.
