SALISBURY, Md. - The Wesley College Men's Lacrosse team faced a steep challenge on Wednesday night when they faced the nation's top-ranked team Salisbury University. The Wolverines took a 28-4 loss at the hands of the Sea Gulls in Capital Athletic Conference action.
Jack Redefer led the team with two goals while Sam Seibert had a goal and two assists. Will Fingles netted a goal as well. Alex Collins led the Wesley defense with a pair of caused turnovers while Eric Bohns led Wesley field players with four ground balls. Cody Ireland finished with 14 saves, six ground balls and a caused turnover.
Wesley scored just once in the first half as Salisbury controlled the tempo and possession. Will Fingles netted the team's only goal with 5:19 remaining in the first quarter. The Sea Gulls took a 14-1 lead into the halftime break.
In the second half, the Wesley seniors Seibert and Redefer combined to create some offense. Each senior scored once and then Seibert connected with Redefer for a goal in the fourth quarter.
The Wolverines move to 4-8 on the season with an 0-4 mark in CAC play. The team will return to action on Saturday, April 2 when they travel to University of Mary Washington for another conference matchup.
