YORK, Pa. – On Thursday, the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) released the annual Men's Lacrosse Preseason Coaches' Poll.
The Wolverines were picked ninth in the poll, collecting 10 points. Defending national champion Salisbury was picked as the preseason favorite, receiving 63 points and seven first-place votes. 2016 CAC Champion York was slated to finish second, tallying 57 points and the remaining two first-place votes.
In 2016, the Wolverines finished 5-11 overall and 1-7 in the CAC.
Entering his ninth season as head coach, Bill Gorrow looks for all-around improvement heading into the 2017 season. Will Fingles, Joe Fingles and Nate Gemmato look to lead the Wolverine offense while Zach Darnell and Alex Collins will pace the defense. Last season, Gemmato ranked sixth in the CAC in ground balls (94) and seventh in faceoff wins (118-286).
The Wolverines will open at the 2017 campaign at home when they host the Shenandoah Hornets on Saturday, Feb. 18. Action from Drass Field at Scott D. Miller Stadium will begin at 1 p.m.
