Men’s lacrosse provides helping hand to Delaware’s homeless veterans

DOVER, Del. – Recently, the Wesley College men's lacrosse team collected and provided winter clothing, jackets, toiletries and sheets/comforters to the Delaware Center for Homeless Veterans (DCHV).

The team used their semester break away from campus to collect various items from friends, neighbors and family to provide the donation to the DCHV.

Assistant coach Brett Gershman has been coordinating the team's effort in establishing a relationship with the DCHV.

"David Mosley from DCHV helped us devise a plan and the coaching staff decided to have our delivery date coincide with our return from winter break," said Gershman. "The idea was that players could bring the idea home to parents who would aid in the collection of new or gently-used clothes, winter jackets, new toiletries, sheets/comforters or anything that they could contribute."

Senior Zach Darnell, Will Fingles, Joe Fingles and Chris Smith helped distribute information and coordinated the event with the coaching staff and the DCHV with culminated with the delivery to their Dover location this past week.

"Our goal is to continue our partnership with DCHV with clothing drives as they return from summer and winter break in the coming year," stated Gershman. "It's important to help these veterans every little bit that we can."
