Men's Lacrosse cruises to season-opening 15-3 win over Rosemont

ROSEMONT, Pa. – The Wesley College men's lacrosse team opened the 2018 season rolling to a 15-3 win on the road over the Rosemont Ravens.

Wesley scored 14 unanswered goals through the first three quarters of the game before Rosemont finally got a marker 7:30 minutes into the third.

Joe Fingles scored four goals while Josh Wassum notched a hat trick for the Wolverines. Both Fingles and Wassum picked up six ground balls and assisted on three goals apiece. Wassum also caused a pair of turnovers.

Will Fingles, Chris Smith and Zach Weitzel each tallied two goals in the win. Smith, Adam Tewey and Tyler Lingenfelder all notched an assist. Smith also registered six ground balls.

The defense half of the field was paced by Joshua Short, Zach Darnell and Nolan Vesey. Darnell caused a game-high six turnovers while Short and Vesey forced five and four turnovers respectively.

Ben Mitzel chipped in with five ground balls. Carlin Fernandez scooped up four ground balls in the midfield.

James Cella earned the win in net, stopping five Rosemont shots.

Ben Koszelak had two goals for Rosemont.

The Wolverines (1-0) will be back in action on Wednesday, Feb. 28 when they hit the road to take on the Immaculata Mighty Macs. Opening faceoff is set for 7 p.m.
