Mileski Named CAC Co-Rookie of the Year
YORK, Pa. – Wesley College's Will Mileski has been named the Capital Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Co-Rookie of the Year, it was announced by the league office on Wednesday afternoon. Mileski is the first Wolverine to earn CAC Rookie of the Year honors and he was also named to the conference's second team.
A freshman forward from Shoreham, N.Y., Mileski shares Rookie of the Year accolades with Christopher Newport's Second Team All-Star Jimmy Grace. Mileski led the Wolverines in scoring in his first collegiate season with eight goals and 20 points while finishing second on the squad with four assists. The speedy striker came on really strong late in the season, registering five goals and two assists in the final five game, including an overtime game-winner against Marymount and a tally against the Captains in the Playoffs.
Sowande was arguably the most improved player on the Wolverines as a sophomore, finishing second to Mileski with five goals while also tallying an assist for 11 points. A center midfielder from Laurel, Md., Sowande scored both of Wesley's goals in an overtime win over St. Mary's and the game-winner at Penn State Harrisburg.
Starting in every game which he appeared in at right back, Blue added valuable speed to a defense that allowed just 1.34 goals per game and pitched six shutouts. A native of Marlton, N.J., Blue also tallied goals against Neumann and Mary Washington for his first collegiate points.
The youngest team in the CAC, Wesley finished the year with an 8-10-2 overall record and a 3-5 mark in CAC play before being edged late by Christopher Newport in the Playoffs.
