SCRANTON, Pa. – Wesley College's men's soccer team battled Marywood University to a 1-1 draw on Monday evening at Pacers Athletic Field. The Wolverines now stand at 4-2-1 on the year while Pacers move to 1-2-3 overall.
Trailing by a goal, sophomore Will Mileski tied the game at one with 7:21 remaining in regulation as he corralled a rebound of his previous shot which was saved by goalkeeper Justin Sunseri. The tally was Mileski's third of the season.
Neither team could find the net for the final seven-plus minutes or the additional 20 minutes of extra time to result in the draw despite several shots on goal by each team. Wesley had four shots stopped by Sunseri in overtime while Ryan Sanders stopped one of his career-high six shots during the extra time.
Marywood gained the early lead in the 13th minute and took the 1-0 advantage into halftime.
The Wolverines outshot the Pacers by a 20-18 margin and held a 7-2 advantage on corner kicks.
Wesley hosts Cairn on Wednesday, September 24 at 7 pm in its final non-conference game before starting Capital Athletic Conference play on Saturday, September 27 against Frostburg State at 6 pm.
