DOVER, Del. – Will Mileski had a hand in each Wesley College goal to lead the Wolverines men's soccer team to a 3-0 victory over Cairn University on Wednesday night at Scott D. Miller Stadium. Wesley moves to 5-2-1 on the year while the Highlanders fall to 1-6-1.
A sophomore from Shoreham, N.Y., Mileski scored a goal and added an assist to give him a team-high 14 points (4g, 6a) on the year. Mileski assisted on Holden Wingate's game-winning goal at 8:37 as his corner kick was deflected by Thomas Franz and headed in by the six-foot-four senior Wingate.
Another eight minutes later, Mileski scored on a breakaway as Sheldon Blue played a ball down the right wing. Mileski outraced the defender to the ball and beat the goalkeeper one-on-one to the left corner.
Wesley held a 12-2 shot advantage in the first half and went into the break with a 2-0 lead before Mileski assisted on Brad Howell's first career goal in the 59th minute.
Zack Baker got his first career start in goal and made two saves in the 90 minute clean sheet. Caleb Pancoast stopped three shots in the loss for Cairn.
The Wolverines open Capital Athletic Conference play on Saturday, September 27 when they host Frostburg State in a 6 pm kickoff.
