Wingate Heads in a Pair to Lift Wesley Over Southern Virginia

DOVER, Del. – Chris Harvell scored just nine minutes in and Holden Wingate added a pair of insurance goals to give Wesley a 3-0 victory over Southern Virginia in Capital Athletic Conference action on Saturday afternoon at Scott D. Miller Stadium.  The Wolverines now stand at 6-5-1 overall and 1-3 in the CAC while the Knights fall to 5-10 on the year and 1-3 in league play.

Shaune Gorman assisted on Harvell's game-winner as he dribbled down the left side and fed a cross to the far post.  Leaping goalkeeper Colin Flynn (nine saves) misplayed the ball in the error and Harvell corralled it and fired it into the back of the net.

Nearly 20 minutes later, Wingate headed in a corner kick by Will Mileski into the left corner of the goal to give Wesley a 2-0 lead at the half.

Wingate tallied his second goal of the game in similar fashion in the 56th minute, but this time on a free kick.  Mileski once again assisted on the play from about 40 yards out on the right side.

Zack Baker stopped one shot in the first half and recorded the win before Ryan Sanders played the final 45 minutes in the combined clean sheet for the Wolverines who held a 22-7 shot advantage.

Wesley returns to action when they host CAC rival Penn State Harrisburg on Tuesday, April 14 in a 7 pm kickoff.
