Wolverines Fall to Hampden-Sydney in Delmarva Cup

DOVER, Del. - The Wesley College Men's Soccer team came up short against Hampden-Sydney College on Sunday afternoon, falling to the Tigers 3-0 at Drass Field.

Kyle Springsteen made fives saves in just over 70 minutes. Tanner Yaw came in for the final 17 minutes and did not face a shot.

The Tigers scored in the 32nd minute, the 56th minute and the 58th minute. The two second half goals came within 1:46 of each other.

Wesley had several opportunities to score but could not convert on any of them. In the 22nd minute, Danny Garza broke down the defense on the left side and centered a pass into Sean Bucior. Bucior laid the ball off to a charging Chris Bramble who ripped a shot, but right into the hands of the goalkeeper.

In the second half, the Wolverines were set up with another great opportunity on a set piece. The Navy and White drew a foul about 25 yards out in the middle of the field. J.P. Amougou lined up for the free kick and blasted a shot destined for the upper corner, but it was turned away by a lunging save from the keeper.

Wesley falls to 1-2-2 on the season and will look to bounce back on Saturday, Sept. 17 with a contest against Cairn University.
