Cruz’s game-winner pushes men’s soccer over Immaculata, 1-0

IMMACULATA, Pa. – A last minute goal from senior Luis Cruz lifts the Wesley College men's soccer team over the Immaculata Mighty Macs, 1-0 in an important Atlantic East Conference road contest on Wednesday.

Both teams battled back-and-forth throughout the game, but Wesley was able to get a goal in the latter parts of the game. A throw-in that was played in the box bounced around for a bit before a failed headed clearance landed on the feet of Cruz. Cruz chipped the goalkeeper on the far side of the post to give Wesley lead with 2:30 minutes to go in the game.

Wesley held the 12-5 advantage in shots and the 5-3 edge in corner kicks over Immaculata. Kyle Springsteen made a pair of saves to earn his seventh win and fifth clean sheet.

Wesley (11-3-1, 3-1-1 Atlantic East) will step out of conference play on Friday when they host the Valley Forge Patriots. The game is set for a 7 p.m. start. Prior to the game, Wesley win honor their graduating seniors for Senior Night.
