DOVER, Del. - The Wesley College men's soccer team will host their College Soccer Summer Clinic on Friday, August 9th at Drass Field at Scott D. Miller Stadium. The clinic is open to high school students with varsity experience (no freshmen) and with a genuine interest in playing soccer in college.
The clinic is designed to provide players the opportunity to experience a college-style practice conducted by Wesley College coaches, staff and players in a small group setting. The training session are conducted also to assist players with their final preparation for their high school preseason and the clinic is offered at a discount of $55. To help your preparation we have an initial extended warm up with touches on the ball. Additional speed work drills & form tips to help those looking to better their speed as well improving as soccer players this fall.
At close, we will take time to cool down and address recovery, keeping in mind that many will chose to rest over the weekend before their high school pre-season camp. This is a teaching clinic that gives everyone an opportunity to learn more about the game, college and Wesley. Parents and coaches are welcome to stay and watch from our grandstand.
A goalkeeper session will be included with a brief visit to the Wesley West Fieldhouse as coaches give examples of speed workouts, band camp and strength training. The registration fee is $55 and includes a Wesley soccer t-shirt & light lunch. Pre-registration is requested online, but payment (cash or check) is accepted on the day. Check-in will run from 9:45 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the Stadium (GPS address; 500 Clara St. Dover, DE 19901). Players need to bring soccer cleats for turf, indoor shoes (we go indoors if inclement weather) shin-guards, clothing appropriate for weather conditions and a change of clothes plus water. Pick up is from 3:00 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. at the stadium.
