Beavers Wins Twice at CAC Championships

YORK, Pa. - Larry Beavers won the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Championship in both the 110 meter hurdles and the 200 meters as Wesley College competed at the conference championships in its first season of Division III varsity status.  The Wolverines finished fourth as a team at the event.

In addition to his two championships, he finished second in three other events, the long jump, 100 meter dash and 4x100 meter relay.

Beavers cleared the hurdles in 15.88, blowing out the next closest competitor by .39 seconds.  He then won the 200m in 22.23, just seven hundredths ahead of the next runner.

In the 100m, he finished in 10.91, just eight hundredths behind the champion.  His leap of 6.61 meters (21-8 1/4) took second in the long jump.

The junior was also part of Wesley's second place 4x100 meter relay, which claimed second in 42.16.

Also on that relay was Michael Clarke, who placed fourth in the 100m in 11.19.  The senior took fifth in the 200m, as well, running a 22.72.

Sean Randall scored for the Wolverines with a fourth place time of 51.71 in the 400 meters.

Wesley finished fourth in the team standings with 54 points.  The three teams ahead of the Wolverines in the team standings, Salisbury (246), Mary Washington (154) and York (117) have combined to win every CAC Outdoor Track & Field Championship since the conference adopted the sport in 1991.
